Meet John VC Weller
A Life Built on Bold Pivots
"I Owe Everything to My Parents"
John was born in the Bronx, NY. He and his family lived in New York, New Jersey, and South Carolina before making North Carolina their permanent home. He credits all of his successes to his parents, who taught him that anything was possible if you outwork everyone else and never, ever give up.
John’s mother, Vivien Weller, was a self-taught, highly acclaimed artist who worked with clients such as the PGA, NASCAR, the WTA, and the Michelob Polo Team. Though an incredible artist, Vivien was best known for her fearlessness, zest for life, and passion for leading people to Christianity.
She taught John to see the beauty of life through the eyes of an artist, to put God first, and to believe without any doubt that anything is possible.
John has a younger sister, Jean, who—like John—was heavily influenced by their incredible parents and rose to great heights in her pursuit of a music career before switching her focus to motherhood.
John’s father, John Weller Sr., built an extraordinary career in the carpet industry, working his way up from a sample-delivery driver to vice president of product development at two of the largest carpet companies in the industry.
John and his dad shared a love of sports, and when they were not watching a New York Giants football game, a New York Knicks basketball game, a boxing match, or a tennis match, they would spend hours battling each other in two- to four-hour tennis matches that often extended into the night until the neighborhood lights turned off.
Both of John’s parents grew up in difficult circumstances in New York City, yet went on to build remarkable, unlikely careers. They instilled in John an unwavering work ethic, toughness, and optimism.

From Wine to Carpet: The Early Career Journey
John’s career began in Washington, D.C., in the premium wine industry, where he learned to sell and market high-end boutique wines in the nation’s top wine market.
Quickly becoming one of the leading wine salesmen in the country, John was invited to help bring Snapple to the U.S. market.
Though his time in the beverage industry lasted only two and a half years, it had a profound impact, giving him invaluable experience in launching a complex product in a highly competitive space.
Through a chance meeting at an NCAA basketball game with his father, John met David Holt, CEO of the WundaWeve carpet mill.
Impressed by John, David invited him to Greenville, SC, to learn the carpet industry.
Over a six-month period, John worked in every department—design, manufacturing, and marketing—before beginning his sales career in Sarasota, FL.
His early achievements at Wundaweve put him on the map in the flooring industry and his confidence was growing.

The Leap to Leadership and Fulfillment
John's career to a major leap when he was mysteriously invited to board a private jet to attend a meeting in Fort Lauderdale, with Mark Lorberbaum of Mohawk Industries.
John thrived while working and learning from Mark Lorberbaum, an incredible visionary who helped transform Mohawk from a carpet manufacturer into the largest tile company in the world.
John held many incredible positions at Mohawk, including his last role securing hundreds of millions in contracts through complex negotiation and elaborate corporate entertainment. Despite reaching the pinnacle of corporate success, John found himself restless and curious about what might be possible if he leveraged what he had learned so far.
John's career took a dramatic turn when a cryptic invitation led him onto a private jet bound for Fort Lauderdale, and a pivotal meeting with Mark Lorberbaum of Mohawk Industries.
Under Mark's mentorship, a true industry visionary who evolved Mohawk from the leading carpet manufacturer into the world's largest tile powerhouse, John flourished, climbing through key roles that honed his expertise.
In his final chapter there, he masterminded multimillion-dollar deals through high-stakes negotiations and lavish corporate diplomacy. Yet at the height of it all, a familiar restlessness stirred: What bold new horizons could await if he channeled those hard-won lessons into uncharted territory?
